COVID-19 Deaths: Cumulative, by State

The time-scale charts below track deaths attributed to COVID-19 for each state and the District of Columbia. These are direct counts of deaths, not adjusted for population for each state.

States with larger and denser populations tend to see greater counts of deaths due to COVID. States with smaller population and more sparsely spread populations tend to have lower death counts.

California, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas lead in total death counts although the manner in which they reached these counts varies by time and pace.
